AMAZING AUROVILLE!!
Our students’ amazing voyage began on November 26 when they arrived in Chennai and set out on a thrilling bus trip to Pondicherry.
We convened at 4 pm for the program launch, which began with interactive icebreakers such as “pass the clap.” After spending some time getting to know one another’s names, the Redwood squad was introduced. They explained to the children the aim of our trip to Auroville, focusing on self-awareness, mindfulness, and establishing expectations. In the resort of Magizhvanam, the students happily celebrated Karthikai Theebam, the Festival of Diyas, while some displayed their artistic abilities with kolam rangoli.
It was a complete joy for our amazing students.
At seven in the morning on November 27, there was a happy wake-up call. They began the day with a delicious South Indian breakfast, preparing for their amazing journey to Matrimandir at nine in the morning. They experienced the essence of Auroville and Matrimandir, led by an amazing Aurovilian, and concluded with an amazing shopping trip for sustainable local products.
They had a fantastic Italian lunch that lifted their spirits before their afternoon meeting at Svaram, which started at 1:30 pm. Under the leadership of experts and with boundless excitement, the students immersed themselves in the realm of sounds, creating their own musical masterpieces. Heart-pounding drum circles, a vibrant Garba, and jubilant local dance festivities brought the day to a climax.
We concluded the evening with a reflection exercise and a sensory observation exercise, documenting the lessons learned in sincere writing.
The following day,28th November, St. Kabir School students had a terrific time acting as organic farmers since they firmly believe in sustainable development! They gathered seeds, pulled weeds, and planted saplings. They all savored some delicious lemongrass and hibiscus tea.
They also learned how to craft items out of used coconut shells.
They regained their energy and played a lively game of French folk ball back at the hotel.
Day 4 was a complete peak! As the students welcomed the day with open arms, there was a buzz of excitement in the air.
Activities on the sea took center stage due to the ideal weather. The students’ spirit of adventure was let loose when they went kayaking. Everyone was mesmerized by Paradise Beach’s amazing beauty and was dancing with the crystal-clear blue waves.
The kids went shopping and marvelled at the beautiful products made by Pondicherry craftsmen at the Art and Craft Village.
A trip through White Town’s streets on a Heritage Walk offered a glimpse into India’s French past. The students were taken outside of India by the buildings’ ochre yellow color and architecture.
Yes, it was a truly amazing day.
Day 5,The journey to Auroville was concluded with a gratitude session. With hearts full and minds expanded, the students returned.
In conclusion, the statement “through travel we discover a new aspect of our personality!” is apt.
