Organ donation awareness campaign was organized in St Kabir School, Naranpura by `Shatayu – The Gift of Life’, a nonprofit organization. It was evolved with the twofold objective of spreading awareness about cadaver organ donation in India, also to educate the importance of organ donation and transplantation, and broadening the mindset of people towards the gift of life.

Students were made aware about the difference between whole body donation and organ donation. Awareness also was given regarding the Trading of organs which is punishable as per Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994. Students were also encouraged to be a donor on the humanitarian grounds.

Certain myths like – people with health issues cannot donate, old people cannot donate, it is against religion, it is done for money etc. were cleared to the students. Students were also surprised to know the fact that every 18^th minute demand for a donor is arising and one donor can save 8 lives.

It was indeed an informative session for the Kabirians and teachers. Such awareness can lead us to a better world.
