TREES ARE BEAUTIFUL ,DARK AND DEEP ( Field Trip- DIO)

St Kabir DIO students and teachers of classes 6,7 and 8 visited VAN CHETNA KENDRA along with their teachers on 3rd AUGUST. The purpose of the visit was to bring children close to nature and feel connected and be one with our beautiful mother nature. The visit began with a nature trail in the Van Chetna Kendra amidst a variety of trees , tortoise, frogs, tadpoles and chirping of the birds .A session on different types of trees, their medicinal values and their benefits was taken by a resource person. Students were shown the different shapes and sizes of the leaves as Van Chetna Kendra has a variety of trees. Powdered Ashoka Bark was shown to the students and its benefits were explained. All the parts of a tree is beneficial to living beings was explained to the students. Students enjoyed making sounds of animals like a dog.a cat and a pigeon. They were explained how imitating sounds of nature enhances the power of their five senses. Being with nature calms their nerves and brings peace and calm. The visit was an extension of the Go Green Campaign going on in the school which started with a unique way of celebrating birthdays. Students have started distributing seeds and saplings on their birthdays .Such visits reinforce their faith in the way they have started celebrating their birthdays by preserving, conserving and hence being able to enjoy in natural surroundings. It is an inspiration to create more such green belts wherever possible .
