Spreading the Colors of Joy through Rangoli

On 14th October, Saturday, St. Kabir School Naranpura organised an Inter – House Rangoli Competition on the occasion of Diwali in which the students participated with zeal and enthusiasm.

Rangoli is an art in which patterns are created on the floor in living rooms or courtyard using bright colors. It is usually made during Diwali. The purpose of Rangoli is decoration and it is believed to bring good luck. It includes paintings, portraits and natural scenery.

All the four houses namely Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire, and Topaz choose themes such as ‘Jyotipunj – Spheres of light’ where they artistically drew the various aspects of Women Empowerment in India,  ‘ Aaj ka Bharat – Kal ka Bharat’ in which they depicted mirror images of a dirty and polluted India and a Clean and Neat India which they desire to live in, through the theme of ‘Cultural Confluence’ the students artistically displayed the union of varied cultures of India, they also showed variety of rangolis in their design, and lastly the students used the theme of ‘NAMO for India’ to creatively represent various schemes launched by Shri Narendra Modi for a better India such as  GST, Demonetization and many more.

All the house students ensured that they had used the compulsory material – Banana leaves  in a unique and different way. Some made husk out of it, some took it for borders and others used it to make bowls out of it.

It was a visual delight for the audience and a tough task for the judges as the Rangolis of all the four houses were varied in themes, creativity and techniques.
