Rangoli Competition at St.Kabir, Navrangpura

It is a fact in neuro-science that the brain responds to visual patterns and depending on the shapes  and patterns, it can have different effects on the mind too. The reason a Rangoli is drawn at the entrance of a house is because of it’s calming effect on a visitor who is just about to enter into the house. It’s a tradition that must be inculcated in the younger generation and school is the right place for the initial step. That’s why the much anticipated event ‘Inter House Rangoli Competition’ was conducted on at St. Kabir, Navrangpura on October 14th to celebrate the occasion of Diwali.

Students of Grade VI to X participated with a lot of enthusiasm as they put together their artistic, imaginative and creative skills to make bright and beautiful designs. The compulsory element of Rangoli competition was “Banana leaves”.

Four houses “Ruby”, “Emerald”, “Topaz” and “Sapphire” had their unique themes. Ruby house theme was “Child Safety“ with the message was to create an awareness on how to protect a child in today’s times when there are so many vices waiting to catch them young . Theme of Emerald house  was “Digital India”. The Design conveyed how India is transformed into digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.  Topaz House came up with the theme “Ek kadam swachhata ki aur”. This rangoli conveyed the message of spreading the awareness to make our country clean. Sapphire house came up with the unique theme “Heritage city”. Ahmedabad is declared as World heritage city on September 1st this year. Their design depicted the monuments, culture that has contributed towards it.

Each and every house representative did great research and well connected their theme in their speech. The judging criteria were based on symmetry, colour combination, creativity and the neatness of the Rangoli patterns.
