MUN- MODEL UNITED NATIONS @ St. Kabir (Navranpura)

Model United Nations is an academic simulation of the United Nations where students play the role of delegates from different countries and attempt to solve real world issues with the policies and perspectives of their assigned country. I.H. Model United Nations Competition was organized by St. Kabir, Navrangpura in the campus on November 29, 2017 to educate their students about public speaking, debate, diplomacy, problem-solving, negotiation, persuasive writing, and teamwork.

Around 40 student delegates from four houses participated in the competition. Every participant took the dress code seriously and it felt like being at the real UN.   Four house students worked on different and unique agendas like UK’s fair settlement in EU, DISEC – Disarmament of WHD , Environment Programme and Article 370 of Kashmir should be abrogated or not.

Students explored the mission, structure and function of the United Nations; learned how to write, improve and defend a policy resolution; applied their research and critical thinking skills to specific global issues, understood the role of international relations and reflections of international affairs and developed skills in disagreement of resolution, problem solving and cross-cultural communication. Students learnt  both replicate the work of the UN and to view the problems facing the international community from a unique perspective.
