LET’S GO ECO FRIENDLY WAY : Lord Ganesha idol making activity at St. Kabir, Navrangpura

Students of St. Kabir, Navrangpura always have a sincere concern for fast degrading environment caused by air and water pollution. Therefore students of Std. VI to IX decided to make the idols of their favorite Lord Ganesha with non toxic clay without using any chemical colours on the occasion of “Ganesh Chaturthi”.

Students were explained the importance of the celebration of this festival in the beginning which was followed by hands on activity of making idols. The entire activity was conducted under the guidance of their respective class teachers and staff in the A.V. Room. It was a great learning experience for the students to press their fingers on the clay and thereby producing  beautiful idols of Lord Ganesha of different sizes and shapes. After the children finished making their own Ganeshas, each of them coloured it and decorated with flowers and a haldi kumkum tilak.

Head Mistress Dr. Renu Srivastava asked the students to urge  their parents to worship  idols of Ganesha made from fresh clay only and shun idols made from Plaster-of-Paris which pollutes our environment.

Really, this activity was a fun way to sculpt and mould our auspicious idol in a personalized and customized manner. Making of an eco friendly clay Ganpati idol on this festive season was an interesting activity with a difference indeed!!
