KABIRIANS EXPERIENCE FUN WITH LEARNING AT ADALAJ VAV, DANDI KUTIR AND INDRODA NATURE PARK (DRIVE IN NEW)

On 24th November 2018, the students of Std. VII of St. Kabir School, Drive In New went for an educational field trip to ‘Adalaj Vav’, a five-storey step-well on the outskirts of Ahmedabad. They were amazed to see the flight of the steps leading to a circular tank, entrance pavilion at the ground level and well at the lowest level as the three distinctive features of Adalaj Stepwell.

Children learnt that it was a stunning example of Indo-Islam fusion architecture work. They appreciated the carvings, pillars, ornamental designs, geometrical patterns and other mythological scenes on the Step Well. It helped them to draw better connections with the curriculum as they gained practical knowledge.

Then they visited ‘Dandi Kutir’ which is India’s largest and only museum built on the life and teachings of One Man, Mahatma Gandhi.

The students took an audio tour at Dandi Kutir for around two hours where Mahatma Gandhi’s life was beautifully depicted. This proved to be a brilliant learning opportunity for the students. The students understood that moral courage is the ultimate weapon to fight the problems in life and build up a strong nation.

Lastly they visited Indroda Nature Park, an environment conservation initiative led by the Forest Department of Gandhinagar.

A tour of Indroda Nature Park acquainted them with different types of vegetation and wildlife. The park also created awareness among children about environment conservation.

The Dinosaur and Fossil Section was the most intriguing, which displayed models of dinosaurs, bones, eggs and other precious fossils related to the extinct animal.

The learning during this educational trip was immense for all the students and will certainly give a better edge to them as compared to merely bookish learning.
